Frequently Asked Questions

We do not accept insurance. Integrative and functional medicine visits are typically not covered by insurance, and in order to bill insurance, visits would need to be shortened to 15–20 minutes. At Salus Integrative, our visits range from 55–90 minutes, allowing the time and attention needed for a whole-person approach.
We do, however, accept HSA (Health Savings Accounts), FSA (Flexible Spending Accounts), and credit cards.
Using HSA/FSA funds
HSA and FSA accounts can be excellent cost-saving tools, but it is your responsibility to confirm that your plan reimburses the services provided. Plans vary, so please verify before using these funds.
Keep in mind:
Withdrawals for non-qualified expenses before age 65 are subject to taxes plus a 20% penalty.
Always keep records (receipts, Explanation of Benefits, provider notes, or prescriptions) in case your insurance carrier or the IRS requests proof of eligible expenses.

Yes. While Tiffany Balin, NP-C, manages many chronic health conditions, she does not serve as your primary care provider. She is an addition to your care team, not a replacement. Please maintain your relationship with your PCP for ongoing medical needs, screenings, and urgent issues.
That said, our Salus Programs include access to Integrative Primary Care Services. If you choose to join a program, Tiffany can serve as your first point of contact for both wellness and many primary care concerns. Even with one of our programs, we still recommend keeping your relationship with a traditional PCP for hospital-based care, insurance-covered services, and emergencies.

We partner with Quest Diagnostics for lab processing. A licensed phlebotomist from Quest will draw and process your labs here at Salus Integrative Medicine.
Insurance billing: Quest will submit your labs directly to your insurance. They will ask for a credit or debit card at the time of draw. This card is separate from the card we keep on file at Salus. Quest does not charge your card on the day of your visit. Instead, claims are processed through insurance (typically 6–8 weeks). You will be notified before your card is charged, and it will not exceed the amount quoted to you on the day of service.
Outstanding balances: If you have a previous balance with Quest, they may request you resolve that before new labs are collected.
Cash-pay option: If you prefer to pay cash for your labs, Salus can cover the cost upfront with Quest, and you would reimburse Salus directly.
Draw fee: There is a $15 lab draw fee billed by Salus at the time of service.
Please note: while we will bill insurance for labs whenever possible, we cannot guarantee coverage for all tests. Any labs not covered are the responsibility of the patient.

Not always. Lab work is an important piece of the puzzle, but Tiffany will review your health history, intake questionnaire, and any prior labs before ordering new ones. She generally starts with routine labs and only recommends more advanced testing (stool testing, DUTCH hormone testing, organic acids, etc.) if appropriate. The goal is to keep care affordable and targeted.

No. At this time, Salus Integrative does not provide treatment for Lyme disease or mold-related illness. These conditions require a highly specialized approach that falls outside of our current scope of practice. If you are seeking care for these concerns, we encourage you to maintain or establish care with a provider who specializes in those areas.
